Reference Materials

LQSi offers a wide range of minerals with well-characterized chemical and physical characteristics.

These reference materials can be used by a laboratory to confirm or to re-confirm the proficiency of analysts or to verify the calibration of instruments or to demonstrate the instrument’s capability and range before purchase or before being put into service initially or after repairs.

These reference materials can be used by an auditor of a laboratory during an on-site visit to confirm the laboratory’s capability and proficiency or can be submitted “blind” in advance of the audit to establish areas critical for closer inspection during the audit.

These reference materials can be valuable for the user of a laboratory’s services to test the laboratory’s capability and proficiency periodically to confirm the on-going reliability of the laboratory’s results. LQSi will work with the user of a laboratory’s services to design a “blind” sample-submittal program that will provide insight into a laboratory’s reliability.

These reference materials can be used by an instrument manufacturer to verify an instrument’s capability and range.

There are different categories of reference materials (RMs) that can be grouped as follows:

Type A RMs are based upon the consensus mean of the laboratories participating in a PTP, less all Grubbs and Cochran outliers. A more robust Type A RM is one that uses the 10 % trimmed mean.

Type B RMs are based upon the consensus mean of select, reference laboratories that participate in a PTP, where six or more reference laboratories are used.

Type C RMs are based upon the consensus mean of select, reference laboratories that used a specific certified RM, traceable to a National Standards Body e.g., NIST or SABS, where six or more reference laboratories are used.

When the RM module of the LQSi software is finished, you will be able to browse available Round Lot Quality Reports (RLQRs) or search for specific parameters within a specific quality range within available RLQRs.

For now, contact LQSi if you have need for a specific reference material and LQSi will respond with a list of available RMs.
