LQSi offers specialized proficiency test programs (PTPs) that determine the chemical and physical characteristics of a wide range of minerals, including coal, metallurgical and petroleum coke, fertilizers, limestone, ores, concentrates, cement, and bauxite.
These PTPs can be used by the parent organization of a laboratory to confirm or to re-confirm the proficiency / reliability of a laboratory and of its results as hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars can be riding on the findings of the laboratory in areas such as the following:
- Reserve evaluation
- Reserve exploitation
- Plant design and circuitry / equipment improvement
- Ore processing, milling, and refining quality, recovery, and loss
- Commercial sales or purchases
These PTPs can be used by the auditor of a laboratory to determine the capability of the laboratory to test with statistical control the distributed materials for the parameters of interest.
These PTPs can be used by the management of a laboratory to verify the ongoing performance and proficiency of the laboratory for the materials and parameters tested by the laboratory and see how the laboratory compares with other laboratories testing the same types of materials.
These PTPs can be used by the analyst to verify their ongoing performance and proficiency, when compared to other analysts performing the same tests around the world.
Key components of LQSi PTPs include the following:
- LQSi PTP reports are issued to all respondents within 72 hours of the data-due date.
- LQSi maintains strict confidentiality of client data and shares data developed in PTPs only with the client.
- Where LQSi does share data with methods-development organizations, e.g., ISO or ASTM, only the data itself along with method, instrument, and RM linkage is provided; no linkage is provided to a particular laboratory.
- LQSi provides technical assistance to clients with questions about performance issues.
- LQSi provides a wide range of PTPs for specific mineral commodities.
- LQSi’s suite of available PTPs reflects industry needs and trends and additional PTPs are provided on an ongoing basis in response to such needs.
To be effective in determining laboratory performance, proficiency testing must incorporate materials with well-documented properties. LQSi has invested in equipment, process design, and trained personnel to prepare materials with lot homogeneity that is under statistical control and from which LQSi has been able to build a range of services that address many of the quality assurance requirements of testing and analytical laboratories.
When combined with our experience, advanced data-collection, data-warehousing, data-processing, and report-distribution capabilities, these services become the foundation for monitoring and improving laboratory proficiency.
LQSi PTP reports cannot be matched for their ability to convey large amounts of information concisely and effectively. Extensive use of numerical and graphical reporting helps provide a true understanding of process variables to those responsible for delivering quality performance.
Custom services can be provided by LQSi to fit the particular needs of any client.
